The Artist : Emile G
As a trained architect, I have always been fascinated by light, color, matter and geometry.
My curiosity in the pictorial field has pushed me to explore the figurative drawing using various techniques: oil, pastel, wash, charcoal, pigments ... Over time my toolbox was embellished with spatulas and instruments that I made.
I turned to abstract geometric art to satisfy my taste for line, rhythm and composition. I seek simplicity and intensity in the reading of the work but also the freedom in its execution and its interpretation.
From this concept, I worked in two complementary directions. The first is based on the material and the curve. It aims to play with light in order to bring color and movement nuances (series "matter and light"). The second is based on the effects produced by transparency and the straight line (series "trait et transparence").
My last series is called "Pause". The square is the structure of the work. This pure geometric base, easily identifiable, allows a quick "hook" of the eye. It generally refers to stability. My goal is to use it to create movement while being attentive to the balance of the work. The painting represents a stop of this movement, time, which freezes the trajectory of the squares. It becomes a framing on a larger space than anyone can imagine.
With this series, by the color, the composition and the purity of the forms I do not seek to transmit a message but a support to the creation of another space-time by the spectator.
