Of great executive quality, this parade console is proof of the mastery acquired by 18th century Turin cabinetmakers in the production of furniture commissioned by the great aristocratic families.
This type of furniture, characterized by a remarkable ornamental exuberance, characterizes the department stores that operated in Turin in the first half of the 18th century, seeing the emergence of important schools on the peninsula, in addition to the Roman and Genoese schools.
The opulence and the plastic vigor of its design go beyond the function of the furniture becoming in fact objects to contemplate, parade furniture, works of art and as such aimed at the exaltation of the owner who through him ennobled his own spaces domestic representatives and their social rank.
The console is crowned by the original shelf in precious purple Calacatta marble, shaped according to the trend of the wooden frame, finished in its perimeter with a beautiful profile in "owl's beak".
The sculptor adheres perfectly to the lexicon of the mid-eighteenth century, stuffed with rococo-style quotes known as "Louis XV style", which one finds in the typical frivolous and twirling cartouches, in the decorations of acanthus leaves and in the Les feet are softened by an always graceful wood carving, tuned by an "X" crosspiece centered by a large asymmetrical pattern in a delightfully rococo style.
The same processes are also found in various geographical areas of northern Italy (Milan or Genoa, mainly) or in France, whose refined productions could also refer to our console.
CONSERVATION STATE :
The console is in a good general state of conservation. It shows normal wear of the gold leaf, with some gaps and small cracks scattered around the structure (which can be repaired at the option of the future buyer).
