Eugen VERBOECKHOVEN 1798/1881

Painter portraitist landscape and animal, he studied with his father Barthelemy. At first he became a skilled sculptor, then a painter, and his paintings had an international reputation during his lifetime.
Executed by the "badaire" process which made the paint smooth and velvety, his paintings bathed in a golden light characteristic of his finest works.
His fame was international during his lifetime and received many distinctions in several countries.
Mostly animal painter, it is more rare to find subjects like this "Backyard of Dutch house". This subject was more widely addressed by Peter Frans Note II.
He is present in the museums of New York, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, Montreal, Munich etc.

Peter Frans II NOTICE 1779/1842

Painter, sculptor, draftsman and engraver. Son of the architect Pierre François le Vieux and was the pupil of JF Van Geel. He mainly painted landscapes and city views by highlighting the architectural prowess of the Dutch houses.
It is also present in many museums including Liège, Amsterdam, Cologne etc.

Signed: lower right with double signatures and dated 1838 or 1839
